Malta Institute of Taxation re-appointed to VAT Expert Group
Attard, Malta – (5 October 2016) The Malta Institute of Taxation (MIT) is pleased to announce that it has been re-appointed by the Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union of the European Commission to serve as a member of the VAT Expert Group for a new mandate of 3 years starting on 1 October 2016.
The VAT Expert Group advises the European Commission and is composed of individuals with the requisite expertise in the area of VAT, as well as organisations representing in particular businesses and tax practitioners which can assist in the development and implementation of VAT policies within the European Union.
The MIT is represented by Dr Sarah Aquilina (permanent representative) and Mr Chris Borg (chairperson of MIT’s technical indirect tax committee), and is the only representative from Malta that sits on the VAT Expert Group.
The first meeting of the newly constituted VAT Expert Group will be held in Brussels on 17 October 2016.
