Cross Border VAT Seminar
The Seminar will cover cross-border aspects of VAT relating to transactions in both goods and services. Apart from considering basic VAT principles such as the classification of transactions, establishing the place of supply and related VAT obligations, the seminar will also cover more specific issues such as the VAT treatment of chain supplies, composite supplies and the VAT treatment of recharges. Key judgments of the Court of Justice of the European Union relevant to the subject will also be discussed.

Chris is a Certified Public Accountant with extensive experience and expertise in VAT and tax matters. He started his career with the Tax department of a Big 4 firm, where he was Senior Manager and the firm’s principal VAT specialist. Subsequently, he established the Malta office of an international multi-family office, under a trust and fiduciary licence, which he led as Managing Director for four years. Chris joined Deloitte Malta in 2017 to take over the leadership of the firm’s Indirect Tax service line, leading a team of dedicated professionals providing a wide range of indirect tax advisory and compliance services to the firm’s local and international clients.
Chris is a lecturer and examiner in VAT and Tax. As chairperson of the Malta Institute of Taxation’s indirect tax technical committee, he is also Malta’s alternate representative on the European Commission’s VAT Expert group and representative on the Indirect Taxes Sub-Committee of the Confédération Fiscale Européenne (CFE).
Michal graduated Finance and banking from the Wroclaw University of Economy (Poland) in 2011. He started his professional career with a Big 4 company in Poland, where he had worked for five years before relocating to Malta to join Deloitte Malta’s Tax Service line in 2016. Back in Poland, Michal was a tax advisor certified by the national Chamber of Tax Advisors.
Michal is a member of the tax advisory team and has specialised in VAT. He currently focuses on various indirect tax advisory project for local and international companies.
