Representatives from the Malta Institute of Taxation attended the MTCA Stakeholders' Forum which was held on 30 July 2026. The event was opened by the Commissioner for Tax & Customs, Mr Joseph Caruana, who provided a high level overview of the MTCA's 2025 Annual Report which marked the end of the MTCA’s 2023-2025 Delivering Transformation Strategy. Mr Caruana explained that 2025 saw positive developments at a number of levels, including tax collection and communication with tax payers. Some of these developments include an increase in tax revenue over 2024, a drop in customer queries, a reduction in physical inspections due to intelligence-led controls and continued progress on the Tax and Customs Administration System (ITCAS).
