Notice to MIT members: FIAU webinars for MLROs (or sole practitioners)

The FIAU has asked the MIT to inform its members that starting next week they will be hosting a series of six sector specific training webinars tailor-made for MLROs (or sole practitioners), addressing ML/FT typologies and red flags, and will also include a session dedicated on improving the quality of STRs, providing examples of lower quality STRs and explaining how these can be improved, and demonstrating what a good quality STR would look like. Each session will focus on the sector of the day, and so examples and cases will be relevant to attendees. The fee is Eur 95 for a full-day webinar (with breaks).

The FIAU has sought the assistance of third party AML/CFT experts, namely Financial Transparency Advisors (FTA) to deliver the sessions (with the exception of the session on the quality of STRs, which will be delivered by FIAU analysts themselves). Combined, the selected speakers have years of practical expertise in high level positions within the areas of financial crime investigations, asset recovery, supervision, and other areas relevant to AML/CFT, including previous positions within MONEYVAL, leading or carrying out country assessments against the FATF recommendations. Thus the sessions will be highly beneficial and delve deep into the topic of suspicion, targeting recurring requests from subject persons to provide more sector specific training and information sessions on STR submissions.

The FIAU has kindly requested that only MLROs or Designated Employees register for the session, and that registrants select the correct session according to their sector.
