CfR Notice to MIT Members

The Office of the Commissioner for Revenue has asked us to inform MIT members that they will no longer be accepting payments by bank drafts/cheques drawn on foreign banks. Furthermore, refunds of tax may no longer be issued through the use of bank drafts/cheques in foreign currencies.

This is due to the fact that the Central Bank is no longer offering the possibility of issuing bank drafts/cheques in foreign currencies nor providing clearing services of bank drafts/cheques drawn on foreign banks.

Questionnaire: Regulation of Tax Professionals in Malta: Viable or Futile?

The MIT has been requested by Luca Mizzi, a Master in Accountancy student at the University of Malta, to invite its members to participate in a research questionnaire. For the purposes of his dissertation, Luca is carrying out a survey on whether the main stakeholders in the field of taxation are in favour or against a formalised regulatory framework for professionals pursuing a career in tax.

Should you be interested in participating in this survey, you are invited to complete the questionnaire at the link below.

Kindly note that the Malta Institute of Taxation has not been involved in the preparation of, nor consulted on, the contents of the survey.
