Our highly-anticipated Annual Tax Conference will take place over the 6th and 7th October 2021. The theme of the Conference is Taxation: A Changing World. Featuring industry-leading speakers, specialised break-out sessions, panel discussions and more, this conference is a must-attend for both tax professionals and those in the wider financial services community.

Key Note Panel Discussion

A panel discussion entitled "Tax Planning is not Evasion; Evasion is not Tax Planning" will kick off the event. To ensure full and effective compliance with the law, especially in view of the designation of tax evasion as a predicate offence for the offence of money laundering, a clear understanding and appreciation of the important differences between that which is legitimate and that which is unlawful is fundamentally important for tax practitioners. This necessity, in practice, extends to all entities and individuals designated as subject persons in terms of legislation for the prevention of money laundering and the funding of terrorism. Led by moderator Dr Conrad Cassar Torregiani, the panelists: Dr Robert Attard, Dr Juanita Brockdorff, Dr Manfred Galdes and Dr Neville Gatt will discuss this topical issue from both a technical as well as a practical perspective.
