Alison Vassallo is a Partner of Fenech and Fenech Advocates and heads the Yachting Department. She also works within the Marine Litigation Department.
For the past 17 years she has advised owners and financiers on the sale and acquisition, registration, financing, importation, chartering, leasing and fiscal requirements of yachts. Her areas of practice within the firm also embrace all aspects of maritime law.
Alison is the Chairperson of the Yachting Services Business Section at the Chamber of Commerce. In 2021 she was appointed as Malta Legal Representative to MYBA – the Worldwide Yachting Association. She is also a Member of the Yachting sub-committee within the Malta Maritime Law Association.
Dr Adrian Attard is a Partner within the Marine Litigation and Ship Finance Departments at Fenech and Fenech Advocates. He graduated in 2009, and later that year was admitted to the Maltese Bar. In 2010, Adrian read for a master’s degree in international maritime law conferred by the IMO International Maritime Law Institute. He subsequently pursued his PhD from Queen Mary University of London in 2019.
Adrian also lectures at the University of Malta and sits on the Executive Committee of the Malta Maritime Law Association where he is presently serving as Treasurer of the Association.
Adrian’s main areas of practice are marine litigation and ship finance. He enjoys a wealth of experience in handling most types of wet and dry shipping disputes ranging from collisions to insurance claims, and from cargo claims and to charter party disputes. He is also knowledgeable in contract drafting and negotiations and regularly handles ship S&P transactions. He also frequently assists maritime clients with advice on sanctions compliance. Additionally, Adrian also regularly advises international financiers in transactions involving the registration of mortgages and of other security instruments over Malta-flag vessels, as well as with mortgage enforcement, cross-border debt recovery, ship arrests and the judicial sales of vessels.
William Cassar is a senior manager and the head of tax at Fenlex Corporate Services. He has graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, followed by a Masters in Accountancy degree from the University of Malta. Shortly after, he joined one of the Big 4 firms where he gained valuable expertise in the realm of direct tax. William furthered his education by successfully completing the Professional Certificate in Taxation
from the Malta Institute of Taxation (MIT). Throughout his professional career, William has worked on a variety of engagements; from assisting individual clients on their personal tax affairs, to advising small and large enterprises on tax matters.
William is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the MIT, the Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA), and the Institute of Financial Service Practitioners (IFSP). William also sits on the Domestic & Compliance sub-committee at the MIT, and on the tax subcommittee of the Malta Maritime Law Association (MMLA).
Maria Kristina Cauchi is a Supervisor within the Tax Compliance Department at Fenlex Corporate Services.
Maria Kristina joined one of the Big 4 firms between 2015 and 2022 after enrolling in the PwC ACCA Programme. In 2019, she successfully graduated and became a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. During 2021, she signed up for the Professional Award in Taxation provided by the Malta Institute of Taxation and graduated in 2022.
Her main area of practice is taxation and related matters at a corporate level, both on local and international tax fronts. She assists local and international clients operating in diverse industries in both compliance and tax advisory matters.
Maria Kristina is a Certified Public Accountant, member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Malta Institute of Accountants and the Malta Institute of Taxation. Maria Kristina also sits on the Young Members Group Committee at the Malta Institute of Accountants.
Kurt Micallef is a Senior within the Tax Department at Fenlex Corporate Services. His main area of practice is Direct & Indirect Taxation at a local & international context assisting both in advisory & compliance matters.
In 2021, Kurt completed his studies and became a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He furthered his education by completing the MIT Couse on Taxation awarded by the Malta Institute of Taxation.
