ECOFIN – digital levy by 1 January 2023
At the ECOFIN meeting of 25 March 2021, EU leaders reiterated their commitment to reaching a consensus-based global solution on international digital taxation within the framework of the OECD by mid-2021. They also stated that, if the prospect of a global solution was not forthcoming, the EU would be ready to move forward, referring also in this regard to the Commission’s upcoming proposal on a digital levy. It was confirmed that this is envisaged to be introduced by 1 January 2023 at the latest.
