Q&A Session with the MTCA – Personal Tax Reporting & Compliance
On 3 July 2025 the MIT hosted a Q&A session with officials from the MTCA in connection with tax compliance and reporting matters for individuals. The session, which was held at the Xara Lodge, Rabat, was moderated by James Bonavia, a member of the Personal Tax Sub-Committee of the MIT’s Direct Tax Committee, with panelists Andrew Buhagiar (Director – Taxpayer Services, MTCA) and Lydon Farrugia (Director – Registration, Filing and Assessment, MTCA).
During the seminar, the MTCA officials provided insights into the most common errors and concerns which the MTCA encounters daily, encouraging attendees to ensure that they / their clients avoid such inaccuracies. The moderator raised a number of issues/obstacles which tax practitioners encounter when assisting individual clients with reporting. The session was also an opportunity for attendees to bring to the MTCA’s attention issues with the MTCA’s online services.
This event was the first in a series of Q&A sessions with the MTCA. The next session will focus on VAT reporting and will be held online on 5 August 2025. For further information email mit@maintax.org.
