Pierre Vella

Pierre Vella started his career at the Inland Revenue Department in 1986.  He worked in most sections and directorates of the Department and in 1995 was a member of the task force that reformed the Income Tax regime, which introduced the Final settlement System in 1998 and Self-Assessment in 1999.

He them moved to MITA (then MSU) and supported the Ministry of Finance in various reforms across the years such as the introduction of the Non-Filers, introduction of the Company Tax Return and Electronic Filing.   Pierre was a key person in the consolidation of VAT and Income Tax units and continued to support the Ministry through his appointment of Head of Programme Management Department at MITA.

In 2021 he was appointed as  member of the Tax Administrative Reform group and contributed extensively to the MTCA Strategy: Delivering Transformation Strategic Plan 2023 – 2025 A new strategy for Malta’s Tax and Customs Administration.
