MIT Master Class Series

The Malta Institute of Taxation launched its Master Class Series on 25thJuly 2018, with the first session entitled Digitalisation: Is it a Catalyst for International Tax Reform?

The MIT Master Class is an interactive discussion forum on select tax topics, led by a local or foreign expert. The Masterclass takes the format of a round-table discussion for a small group of specialist tax professionals, and is preceded by a presentation by the moderator. The first Master Class focused on the proposals and policy discussions around the taxation of the digital economy and was presented by Dr John Vella.

Subsequent to the Master Class, the MIT prepared a report which outlines the various issues raised by Dr. Vella which were discussed with the participants, and sets out the MIT’s views on some of the key points. The report complements the views already expressed in the Position Paper on the European Commission’s proposals concerning the Fair Taxation of the Digital Economy issued jointly by the Malta Institute of Taxation and the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners.
