EU Fiscalis Meeting

As a Member of the EU Commission’s VAT Expert Group, the Malta Institute of Taxation, represented by Sarah Cassar Torregiani, is participating in the Fiscalis Meeting on VAT in the Digital Age.

Representatives from Member States tax authorities, select industry stakeholders and Members of the VAT Expert Group are discussing contemplated reforms which are intended to simplify the VAT system, strengthen it so as to address the negative impacts of VAT fraud, and adapt it to reflect the new business models that technology is enabling. The initiatives being considered relate to:

• Digital reporting Requirements
• the Sharing Economy
• Single VAT Registration
