MIT Course on Taxation 2025/2026

EQF/MQF Level 6 | 16 ECTS | Accredited Higher Education Programme | Commences 1 October 2025

The MIT Course on Taxation is a comprehensive, accredited programme covering both domestic (incl. VAT) and international taxation. It is aimed at professionals from tax, legal, and accounting backgrounds seeking to deepen their expertise in Malta’s tax system and its interaction with global standards.

Upon successful completion of the course and the relevant assessments, students will be awarded an EQF/MQF Level 6 qualification (16 ECTS credits). The Malta Institute of Taxation is licensed as a Higher Education Institution by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority (License No. 2015-014).


Programme Structure

The course consists of 5 modules, totaling 52 lectures:

Each module may be taken individually or as part of the full programme.


Assessment Components

Each module comprises:

  • Final Assignment/Exam (80%)
  • Mid-Module Home Test (15%)
  • Participation/Attendance (5%)

Delivery Mode
  • Blended Learning: 50% online lectures; 50% in-person sessions
  • Lecture Time: 18:00 – 20:00 CET
  • Venue: St. Aloysius College 6th Form, Ħal Balzan, Malta
    Note: Face-to-face lectures are not streamed online.

Duration & Flexibility
  • Full Programme: October 2025 to June 2026
  • Modular Option: Course may be completed over a maximum of 5 years (minimum 1 module per academic year)

Admission Requirements

Applicants must hold:

  • A relevant university degree, or
  • Demonstrable professional experience in taxation or a related field

Certification
  • Award: MIT Award in Taxation (Level 6, 16 ECTS)
  • Eligible for Malta’s Get Qualified Scheme
  • Includes 104 Core CPE Hours
  • Affiliate membership with the Malta Institute of Taxation (includes benefits such as access to member resources and discounted CPE rates)

  • Application Fee: €150 (non-refundable)
