MIT Council & Committees 2026/2027

Further to the AGM of the Malta Institute of Taxation held on 16 June 2026 (see MIT News 18 June 2026), the Council of the MIT held its first meeting during which the appointments to key roles within Council as well as Committee chairpersons were agreed.

• Treasurer – Christian Vella (reappointment)
• Vice-Treasurer – Louise Grima (reappointment)
• Secretary General – Robert Taylor East (reappointment)
• Vice-Secretary – John Ellul Sullivan (new appointment)

Direct tax committee

This committee will be once again split into 4 sub-committees: 

• International Tax – Christopher Bergedahl (reappointment)
• Domestic & Compliance – Elaine Marie Debono (new appointment)
• Personal Tax – Edward Attard (reappointment)
• Transfer Pricing – Trudy Muscat (reappointment)

The Council of the MIT thanks outgoing Domestic & Compliance Sub-Committee Chairperson, Daniel Caruana, for his contribution to the work of this sub-committee and the initiatives of the Institute.
